Beauty Likes and Dislikes

(Left to right: Good Things Blemish control Face Mask, S&G Righteous ButterS&G Sugar Crush Body Wash, S&G Glow Lotion, S&G Lip Balm in Juicy Peach and Elegant Touch Polish Remover)
Christmas is over now, but it was a time to receive and try out some new products. I had to treat myself to a few beauty luxuries over the period, to leave me feeling that little bit pampered. In the last month, I've been trying out quite a few products from various brands and I've got a few that I've liked and disliked that I wanted to show you.
The majority of the things I was given as a present and are all available to buy at Boots.

1) Good Things Blemish Control Face Mask (Gel) 100ml £5.99
I've always wanted to try a gel face mask, and this product stood out to me from all the others on offer. It says it's a 3 in 1 'Anti Blemish, Oil Clearing and Salicylic Acid'. It also has mango and lychee extracts which are apparently brightening for the skin and it also has Witch Hazel to help calm and soothe spots.
I suffer pretty badly with them, so I thought I'd give this a go. It's also quite lightweight so you can use it once a week, it really helps to de-stress. I've really liked using it- it leaves this cooling, tingling feeling on my skin for the 10 minutes that I leave it on for and it's really easy to wash off. I'm still on the hunt for a face mask that will reduce my spots in size and prevent them, this for me is good at cooling them down and calming redness. It's also really healthy- they use natural ingredients and it can be used by anyone. I'm familiar with salicylic acid and witch hazel which is really good for the spots, so I know it isn't going to block my pores.

2) Soap and Glory Righteous Butter Body Butter 500ml £10.99
I really like this body butter because it isn't strongly scented and is a light, 'whipped' cream which is easy to apply and is build able. I really like the texture of it as it's really smooth. Being honest, it hasn't made my skin the softest it could be but it does the job, it's a body moisturiser. I love S&G products anyway but it was really nice to receive it as I've used it before anyway.

3) Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash 500ml £6.50
My first impressions were I didn't think the smell was going to be my taste, but I'd heard a-lot of good things about it on blogs so I thought I'd give it a try- I'm definitely going to try their body scrub from this range.
When I'm in the shower in the mornings; using this instantly wakes me up as the smell is very strong and refreshing, it smells like a key lime pie mixed with flying saucers, and I didn't think I'd like the smell to be really powerful but it's really nice to use because the smell lingers and I'm in love with the packaging. I also like the consistency of it, it's bordering on a gel/soft cream which contrasts with the smell as I expected it to be maybe a bright colour or something.

4) Soap and Glory Glow Lotion 150ml £5.50I actually received this a couple of Christmas' ago, but I thought I'd dig it out as it would be perfect for that little sparkle on Christmas day and New Years. Then when I used it a couple of times, I found it to be a little pointless in my body routine. I felt it hardly highlighted my body/gave me shimmer and I really wasn't impressed. I don't know if it is the product or if it's a particular bottle/my skin tone but I wouldn't be using it again.

5) Elegant Touch Nail Polish Remover 150ml £2.65When you're rushing and running around shopping, it can get quite stressful. This was the first nail polish remover I set my eyes on, so I just grabbed it and went to the till. I used it once and it took about 5 or 6 cotton pads to actually get my nail polish off from my nails. It wasn't too expensive but I felt sticking with boots own brand is a much better option. Not only did it take me ages to remove the nail polish, it left my nails feeling really dry, wouldn't use again.

6) Soap and Glory Great Kisser Lip Moisture Balm (Juicy Peach) 18g £5.00You can never have too many lip-balms, I've wanted to try S&G Make-up range for a while and it was a cute, stocking filler. But once I tried it, £5 is definitely too much to ask for. I think because it's S&G they think you should pay a little more for their lip-balm. The smell wasn't exotic and fruity like I'd expected, but could have been from Primark if it hadn't been packaged so nicely. The lip-balm itself was a mixture between that and a gloss which I wasn't fond of and it made my lips dry after the first 10 minutes of application. Maybe it would be okay in the summer, but definitely isn't a good product for the colder months.
